Los años en los que se manchó la pelota

Resumen

Los eventos deportivos fueron una herramienta para desviar la atención del contexto político y social que atravesaba la Argentina durante la última Dictadura cívico militar. Algunos medios, como la revista El Gráfico, colaboraron a través de sus coberturas a ocultar lo que ocurría. Como analizan los autores en este artículo, a poco más de dos años de que el país fuera sede del Mundial de Fútbol, las prioridades informativas en materia deportiva iban a cambiar y, desde entonces, «la insignia del periodismo deportivo» abogaría en sus páginas por la separación entre el deporte y la política y encontraría en el seleccionado nacional un elemento capaz de unir a todos los argentinos.

Abstract

The sports events were a tool to turn aside the attention of the political and social context of the Argentina during the last civic anda military Dictatorship. Some mass media, as the magazine El Gráfico, collaborated with its coverages to conceal what happened. Since the authors analyze in this article, little more than two years of which the country was the host of the World Cup, the informative priorities in sports matter were going to change and, since then, «the emblem of the sports journalism» would plead in its pages for the separation between the sport and the politics and would find in the national football team an element capable of joining all the Argentinians.
